After weeks of auditions and competition, Takoradi-based singer and guitarist, Joseph Nkrumah Buabeng, a.k.a Nero-X, has emerged winner of the first edition of Born Starz.

Also performing on the night were Hiplife artiste Okyeame Kwame, UK-based Comedian Eddie Kadi, a mass choir, and Paulina Oduro.

The final event came off last Friday at the Accra International Conference Centre with fierce competition among the finalists Prince, Divinity Blazers, Felicity, Nero-X and Maame Esi.

The contestant who wowed the crowd the most, Prince, the only rapper among the finalists, failed to sail through to the top three. This was because the voting results did not favour him.

Judge David Oscar, who hinted Prince as his favourite at the semifinal, was disappointed as Chris Attoh announced the end of the road for him.

Dance group Divinty Blazers also put up an exceptional performance which earned them praises from Ben Brako, Paulina Oduro and David Oscar. However, their votes were not enough to help the group to progress.

After a second round of performances by the top three, Felicity Borkerty placed third, and wins a small LED TV, a water boiler and sandwich maker, and a mentoring session with a celebrity; Maame Esi Elizabeth Awortwi, who came second, goes home with a medium-size LED TV, a water boiler and sandwich maker, and a mentoring session with a celebrity; and the winner Nero-X, will be leaving for the UK on an all-expense-covered trip in March.

He will have a magazine and online interview with Rickie Davies; meet with music producer Vinnie V for dinner and a recording session; photo shoot with Ernest Simons; have a recording session with J. Appiah; and appear at the Ghana Independence show at the o2 Arena.

While in the UK, Nero-X will also be granted interviews on Ghanaian radio stations; have breakfast with Eddie Kadi and friends. In addition, he gets a large-size LED TV.

Born Starz is Viasat1 talent show to unearth and celebrate Ghanaian talents. It is sponsored by Indomie.
