Many Ghanaians have expressed worry about Andrew Solomon, the gay-promoter who has apparently become a friend of President John Mahama, and facts emerging show that Andrew (a man) is actually married to a bearded-old man by name John Habich.
Andrew Solomon and his male lover, John Habich, got married in 2007 and they have two children. One of their children, George, is the younger one and was given birth through a surrogate mother. Details of their older child are unclear but he is believed to have been adopted.
George was actually conceived through donor eggs from a surrogate mother by name Laura who is also a lesbian. The sperms were from Andrew Solomon.
Andrew and John met on a book tour and got married six years later. They were involved in long-distance dating that saw them attending dinners.
In December 2003, Mr. Habich became the deputy editor for entertainment at Newsday on Long Island. Soon after, he decided he wanted a more serious commitment. On a trip to Ghana for a friend’s wedding, he proposed to Mr. Solomon.
Though President Mahama has categorically stated that homosexual acts are criminal in Ghana and he would not promote such relationships, the President has not hidden his friendship with Andrew Solomon.
“I will always remember the fantastic dinner party Andrew hosted for me in his Manhattan home that set the ball rolling”, was what President Mahama wrote about Andrew Solomon in the acknowledgement section of his book, ‘My First Coup d’état’ (Page 316 in the second paragraph).
