Pretty Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson who currently has the longest pins in Ghallywood has taken sometime out to spill the beans and clear her chest off some current occurrences about her, in the Ghanaian media.
Yvonne spoke on certain issues which are already in public domain and also made a lot of revelation which she had not made anywhere before, in an all time exclusive interview with peacefmonline.com.
Yvonne didn’t sound too happy as she claimed that some Ghanaian media men are always writing negative stories about her, just to sell their papers. She said she prefers shooting here in Ghana to shooting in Nigeria because according to her Nigerians ‘rush’ too much and they don’t care whether you are acting well or not.
Perhaps the most ‘outrageous’ thing she said during the interview, was the answer she gave when peacefmonline.com entertainment reporter, Eugene Osafo-Nkansah threw this question at her: “What is your dream role? “I don’t know but I can play like a ghost or Vampire in a movie”, Yvonne answered. Now, has anyone imagined Yvonne Nelson playing a ghost or a Vampire in a movie? Well, enjoy the interview.

P.FM: Yvonne what makes “The Game” one of the greatest movies you have ever done?
Yvonne: Because the storyline is good. You can tell the editing is also on point and everyone in the movie, all of us did great. It is all about the storyline and the script, and then Frank Raja also directed it well.
P.FM: So how is the role you played in “The Game” different from other roles you have played before?
Yvonne: It is the same old Yvonne Nelson. You see me do more of this sly, snake-under-grass, cunning, selfish, deceitful and arrogant girl. So I was just being smart in the movie. Everybody was playing a game, so that’s about it.
P.FM: Have you played your dream role in any movie yet?
Yvonne: No!
P.FM: So what is your dream role?
Yvonne: I know there are so many other roles. I mean, I have played a mad girl before but I still want to do different stuffs, I know. But I can play like a ghost or some vampire or something. There are so many other things out there that I can do. So I am still waiting for my dream role.
P.FM: You have been shooting both in Ghana and Nigeria. Which side do you think is good for you as a professional actress?
Yvonne: I think in Ghana because, No.1, I am a Ghanaian and I am very, proud to be a Ghanaian; and one problem the Nigerians have is when they are shooting, they don’t care about how good it is or how well you are acting, they just want you to shoot and finish. In Ghana we take our time in costuming, directing and everything is great in here. Nigerians “rush” too much. They are doing well, I am not saying they are not doing well but I prefer shooting movies here than in Nigeria.
P.FM: The media here and the media in Nigeria which, do you think is doing well for you?
Yvonne: Ok! I don’t live there so I can’t compare the two, but I think whatever they have written about me in Nigeria is not that bad, but compared to the media here in Ghana, you guys are taking it too far. I mean it will get to a time when actors and actresses will not even talk to you again.
P.FM: Why?
Yvonne: Yes, because you don’t, record us, you are always trying to sell your papers or trying to create some hype; but you should remember that it affects whoever you are talking about; we are all human beings. Do you get the picture? I mean, you can add a little salt and sugar to it, but don’t blow it up like that.
P.FM: So what is it that the media is doing in Ghana now that you don’t like?
Yvonne: I am not really bothered. I mean, I am not a media person or, like a journalist. So it is up to you guys to make sure whatever you are putting out there is entertaining, as well as educating people. You know, you don’t mess people lives up.
P.FM: Does it affect you sometimes when you hear bad news about yourself?
Yvonne: It doesn’t affect me in any way because I know that no matter what happens the truth is always going to come out. But it’s bad. I mean tomorrow you call me for an interview and I wouldn’t grant it. So why would you want to destroy that relationship?
P.FM: It looks like people say a lot of things about you that are not true?
Yvonne: Yes! Because they want to sell their newspapers! And it is not just me, everyone, all of us.
P.FM: But don’t you think it is also part of show business?
Yvonne: Yes it is, but not all the time you hear about, Yvonne Nelson, it’s always like she did this or that. I mean we are all role models.
P.FM: Alright, so now give us some of your positive attributes, so that we write about those too!
Yvonne: (laughs) oh! Do I have to come out and blow my own horn and all that?
P.FM: Well, you are blaming the media for writing negative things about you so now give us some of the positives.
Yvonne: I have so many good stuff coming up. I just completed school; I have a degree, I am launching my foundation in August. The ‘Yvonne Nelson Glaucoma Foundation’ and I have so many things coming up in the future.
P.FM: But you don’t tell the media about these things, so how do we report it?
Yvonne: No! But if you are not interested in knowing the good things about me how would you know?
P.FM: You said you have a degree. What degree, and from which school?
Yvonne: I just completed Central University and I offered Human Resource Management.
P.FM: So how are you going to inculcate that into your acting career?
Yvonne: Oh! You know human resources deal with human beings, their behaviour and all of that goes with it. As long as I am still working with my colleagues and I still want to be in the industry, it is very useful. You know I have my own company called Y.N. Productions but I am not making so much noise about it.
P.FM: What will your company be doing?
Yvonne: Events organizing and may be movie production one day, so my degree is not going to be a waste.
P.FM: What will you be doing with your foundation?
Yvonne: I want to create awareness on Glaucoma. It is an eye disease and so many people have it, but you don’t get it through contact, it runs through your family. It is hereditary so if your mum has it there is probability that you can also have it. So many people have it but they don’t know anything about it. I will do free screening services and educate people about the disease.
P.FM: Why Glaucoma?
Yvonne: A family member had it and we were so ignorant about it at that time and she ended up dying. So after that happened when I grew up I told my mum that I would want to create more awareness on Glaucoma.
P.FM: Ok Yvonne, I want to know this. I am sure you might not answer but I will still ask you. Are you going out?
Yvonne: (A long laugh) OK, right now I am not. But I have been going out for a long time, but I now am not.
P.FM: Who were you going out with and how come you are no more together?
Yvonne: Oh! You want to know who I was going with. I will tell you later on. I am not one of those people who come out to say I am dating this man or that. I have been a private person all along. Journalists ask me every day. They try and try and try but, I will never say who.
P.FM: So you are single now?
Yvonne: Yes I am single now
P.FM: Is there anything you want to tell your fans out there?
Yvonne: I think my fans already know me. So they should still keep supporting me and believing in me. I am going to give all my best.
P.FM: Apart from acting on screen, is there anything you would want to do in movies?
Yvonne: Ok! Not really, but I would want to produce movies some day. Since I said I have a company, I think I will just stick to acting and production.
