Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go, but to some Nigerians, the rate at which Ghanaian actors and actresses are trooping to Nigeria is jaw breaking.

With no element of discrimination, these Ghanaian invaders feature in all Nigerian movies, including the Yoruba ones. Noted for its quantity but the not quality of movies produced, Nollywood has gained much popularity in Africa and some other parts of the world.

While Ghanaian actor, John Domelo is being bombarded with Nollywood scripts, some famous names like Nadia Buari, Yvonne Nelson, Majid, Jackie Appiah, Nana Ama McBrown and others seem to be ‘regularly becoming irregular’ in the Nigerian movie industry. As for Van Vicker he does not even feature in Ghanaian movies anymore.

People have attributed the invasion of Ghanaian stars into Nollywood to the fact that Ghanaians are good and as such, they are highly demanded by Nigerian producers. However, according to their Nollywood counterparts, it is not because they are ‘too good’ but simply put, they are very cheap and lack experiences.

The headache of some Nollywood actors and actresses with reference to the invasion of their Ghanaians counterparts has been that, Ghanaians will soon twist the game and take over Nollywood.

Since blunt truths are more mischievous than nice falsehoods, countless articles have been written about the so-called ‘invasion’ by Ghanaian acts.Ghanacelebries.com tracked down this article about how a popular Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw Nuttal, expressed her views on the reason why Nigerian Producers rush for Ghanaians.

“If you want to know why Nigerian producers now rush for Ghanaian acts is just nothing than the fact that they are cheaper. Kate Henshaw Nuttal one of Nollywood’s acts unveiled this fact. “It is because they are cheaper. It is like going to Sokoto for what you have in your sokoto. It is not as if they are better than us, they are not! That is all I can say.”

‘Chie!’ I wonder if this would stand the test of time because Nigerians including those in diaspora love to see the faces of our actors, especially the good ones. So, there is no fear that they (Ghanaian acts) would invade Nollywood. Nuttal concurs: “They cannot take over. You cannot take over what does not belong to you; you can’t take what is not yours. Our producers are just going for cheap ones, which are not real. It’s like buying ‘tokunbo’ cars and say they are brand new cars.”

For those who think it is a collaboration between the two countries, you are hitting on the wrong side of the drum. The situation can be described as “each one for himself…” Most Nigerian producers prefer to use Ghanaians in their movies in order to get more sales. Others believe that they are too familiar with the old faces from Nollywood and the introduction of Ghanaians will make a difference.

When we took the pain to chat with some of those Ghanaian turned Nollywood actors and actresses, most simply said, there is nothing wrong with Ghanaians featuring in a Nigerian movie. To them, this will even strengthen up the friendly relations between the two countries.

However, rumours reaching Ghanacelebrities.com have it that, Ghanaians in Nollywood will not only be forced to pay dues and taxes but get a work permit as well. As to whether the cooperation between the two West African countries in terms of movies will continue to flourish or not, only the future can tell.

Be it an ambush or invasion, Ghanaian actors and actresses do not worry their heads about the fire on the mountain as they are still killing the game in Nollywood.

njweng veronice let me tell you the growth of the ghanaian movie industry is nothing compared to the growth of nollywood to stun nigeria, nollywood took the world by storm and is still stunning the world which has led to so many ducumentaries about it, and it has been featured on cnn, bbc, bbc radio, sundace festivals, dutch stations, and so many other places that i have lost count, this is not something i am making up you can go to google and utube and confirm all these, you said the ghanaian movie industry growth is stunning nigeria why haven't anyone taken note, yet your stars run down to nollywood to take a waka pass role the start getting a decent rele and that is just a few of them get to get decent roles, kenya movie industry is even far ahead of yours it has been featured on cnn twice this shows that people are taking note of the growth of the kenyan film industry and its significant growth, how many ducumentaries have been done about your movie industry none that shows that there is no significant growth in your movie industry, that your industry is growing is because of the influence of the nigerians, nollywood has grown so big that other african countries like uganda, cameroon, sierra leone, gambia and many more have invited them to jump start there movie industry and you know what, the really appreciate our efforts to help them unlike ghana, don't worry we want not just ghanaians to take over nollywood but the whole of africa becuase it is a plus for nigeria, so you ghanaians don't make it seem like it is a negative thing, i would love and support the whole of africa acting in nollywood it shows that africa is capable of building a very lucrative venture which the world don't believe we are capable of.So my dear njweng veronice who is jelous of the other now because nollywood is way ahead and better the ghanaian movie industry and also more successful, nollywood boosted your movie indsutry to what it is today the facts are there to back this claim, we made you poeple and we are still on top, i have told you guys time without number you should not be compteting with nollywood because it is better and bigger than your movie industry, you should be compteting with riverwood(the kenyan movie industry) the themselves are even ahead of the ghanaian movie industry.

lovistic first of all nollywood stars are not envious of the ghanaian artist and why should they be when they are more succesful and bigger than them, and for your information the ghanaian artists presence is not what is making nollywood grow, nollywood has been growing before the ghanaian artists came and the will continue to grow while they are there and after the are gone, tell which new break through artist does not sell movies which is what the ghanaians are doing in nollywood that does not mean nollywood stars do not sell movie if not movies like figurine, nollywood huster, osuofia in london(which is the highest grossing nigerian movie till date)and many other movie wouldn't have sold well because the parade olds faces in nollywood, or would you say without shia laborf face in the last indiana jones movie the movie woundn't have done well in the box office, let me tell you top ten movies of nollywood stars like genevieve, omotola, desmond, ramsey, osuofia, rita, jim and many more others have sold way better than the top 30 movies of ghanaian artists. And who is agianst competition it is very healthy for the industry.

I am not surprised that Kate said that cos i know for sure that all or almost all Nollywood stars feel threatened by the invasion of Ghanaian artists.I know this kinda envy thing will happen for sure. To Kate, just take a good look at yourself and The Ghanaian artists and see who is cheaper, uglier, and poor in acting. Almost everyone will prefer to watch a Jackie, Nadia or Van movie to your movie. I am even surprised she called them cheaper cos i don't think Kate or whatever she calls herself earns more money per movie in Nollywood than Jackie, Van or Nadia.Jackie and Nadia (don't know of Van)for sure are from very rich homes. With or without the monies they earn from movies, they will still be comfortable unlike u.How can u call someone from a rich home cheaper than u.That is ridiculous.Even your words(you cannot take something that does not belong to you) shows clearly that you are envious and threatened by their presence. Shame on you and your other colleagues who are envious of these foreign artists in Nollywood cos they are helping build a better better Nollywood. Even a Nollywood producer confessed that these artists sell more movies than Nollywood artists. Kate is just an average actress. She is not rated among the Top Nigerian artists.Jackie, Van and Nadia are more famous and highly recognized than Kate in and around the world. Their class is above. They can compete any day, anytime in looks and and acting talent with the Nigerian artists.

tt if you want more evidence then listen to julliet ibrahim interview on ghanacelebrities also, then go to utube and listen to yvonne nelson interview too. And saying nollywood stars are jelous of the ghanaian artist common that is the joke of the century, ghanaians make up cases in other to get noticed. When wesley snipes came to nigeria for a visit( around 2004 or 2005)he interacted with nollywood practitoners and saw around nollywood as of then, in an interview he said nollywood dind't really make movies, he said the made soap opera-like home films, nigerians took that in good faith and since then we have improved a lot, now would you say wesley snipes was being jelous of nollywood, he said the simple truth, which is the same thing kate henshall did,but to a ghanaian it is otherwise.Tell me which nollywood star should be jelous of the ghanaian artists, is it ramsey, genevieve, omotola, jokes silver, patience, olu jacobs, pete edochie, justice esiri, stephanie etc tell me who because these nollywood stars have starred in a lot of big high grossing, big budget, bluckbusters than the ghanaian artists, they have also made more money and achievements than the ghanian artists, rather the ghanaaian artist are the ones jelous of the nollywood stars because of how succesfull nollywood movie industry and nollywood stars are, the ghanaians artists they themselves and the ghanaian movie industry want to be as succesful also. After all it is the truth that ghanaian artists are cheaper, it is the same in hollywood, american stars are more costly than their british and other foreign stars.

crave, u are only basing ur point on pascaline, intv. on ghanacelebties.com That was her point of view, even she doesn't appear in nollywood movies like van, jackie, majid and others. she said that u have to be good for nollywood producers to invite u. it means all ghanaians in nollywood are good. but because of the jelous of nollywood actors n actress, u claim they are not good and cheap

your artist run down to nollywood to act and according to a ghanacelebrities reporter who was interviewing pascaline edwards the ghanaian artists can't wait to start working in nollywood. And talking of the artists nollywood has both old and new faces, so it is not just the ghanaian faces, and look at this if nollywood was actually looking for new faces why is it that nadia, jackie, yvonne didn't appear much in nollywood in 2009 except for van because he has a nigerian manager that was what saved him, even majid did not appear much, so as you can see is all about business they were cheaper and the used them, it is not just about being a new face because we have new faces a lot in nollywood and trust me ghanaians coming to nollywood is a plus to nollywood i support it a 100 percent because in no distant time artists from cameroon, uganda, sierra leon, kenya, ivory coast etc will also be invading nollywood, nollwood has grown to a level where it is no longer a nigerian movie industry but for africa in general, my only beef about the ghanaians is that the feel acting in nollywood is doing nollywood a favor, imagine helping someone and the can't even thank you for it,had it been nollywood did not give the likes of jackie, van, nadia and co the chance to act in nollywood that would have been another line arguement by the ghanaians that we don't let their artists act in nollywood, unlike ghanaians cameroonians are very apreciative with our collaboration, the funny thing is that cameroonians don't see nigerians as superior or people trying to put them down in movie making, they see it as a healthy collaboration between both countries, but for ghana it is otherwise, just like pascaline edwards puts it ghanaians are too proud of themselves to ask for help even when they are wrong. If van and co were in hollywood acting, would that have made america and the world not want to watch bruce willis and other hollywood stars jus because the ghanaians are new faces when they have so many old and new faces, that is the same case in nollywood that van and co are in nollywood does not mean nigerians will not watch old faces like joke silver, patience ozokwor, olu jacobs, justice esiri, pete edochie etc and also we have so many old and new faces that keeps growing, your artists being in nollywood is a favor and a chance to project their career to a higher level, according ot pascaline edwards ghanaians have to be their best to make it to nollywood.
